Mood lighting

So when I went on my test drive, the saleman showed me something I thought was pretty cool...mood lighting. Does anyone know if this is standard or part of a package on the clubman?

If you have it, do you use it? Have you gotten comments on it?

it's standard...and as your salesman probably showed you, you can change the color from orange to blue..... personally I think it's a "fru-fru" thing, but lot of people seem to enjoy playing with changing the color, etc.

Are orange and blue the only options? Can you turn it off at night?

No you can't turn it off but it kind of blends in so you really do not see it while driving. There are actually five different settings Orange, Mauve, Purple, Pink, Blue those are the best names i could come up with to do the intermediate colors.

I leave mine an blue all the time as i think is is the best color to go with my hot chocolate leather/cloth seats and english oak dash. I am looking for a way to add more such as in rear pillars at the top similar to the glow above the seat belts anchor points, and also in the cup/hand wells in the back seat.

There are led options but they all seem to be to bright or jsut the wrong color.

on the 08's it is a toggle switch in the roof set along with the reading lights, sunroof switch and main overhead light switch.

I do not think it was even available on 04's

OH well.
mine is blue to match my blue interior, but i would have liked to keep just the footwell lights on at night and keep the overheads off.
guess I can switch it that way if i wanted to.

I wish I could dim the dash lights separately of the mood lighting to emphasize my mood.

Yes it would be nice to have the dash blue to match my mood lighting but that would probably be somewhat difficult for them to make happen. Although they could do it i'm sure.

You can always take the bulbs out of the dash and replace them with blue ones.
I havent taken it apart yet, but it probably has a colored plastic lense and or bulbs, you can always change both.

It's actually not that easy they are LED's soldered to the board inside. There is some one that does this but i have not checked on the price

Caution: Off-Topic post

This thread reminds me of a joke that I kind of like - seems that Fred purchased a mood ring for his wife Ginger, to whom he had been married for a while. The idea was that it would help Fred figure out what kind of mood Ginger was in as she went that special time in her life when her emotions seemed more volatile than usual. Apparently it didn't turn out so well; Ginger puts it best. "When I'm in a good mood, the ring has a nice green glow to it; when I'm mad, it leaves a big red mark right in the middle of his forehead."
