can't think of a better thread so will post it here.
i just noticed the other day that not once in my almost 3 months of ownership did someone make the assinine comment of "WOW, how can you fit in there?"
I used to get it almost daily with my previous MC Coupe ... I am 6'7" afterall.
Could the Clubman be sooooo much visually bigger to strangers?

I don't think the Clubbie looks that much bigger, but maybe it is to others? *shrugs*

I was picking up my daugther from camp the other day and one of the counselors said, " oh look its the mini stationwagon" I cringed and pulled up to her and said, "bite your tongue!" Other than that dumb comment, i just get lots of looks, cool car and most of all people seem to just love the checkered flag sideview mirrors! I LOVE MY CAR TOO!!!!

Not a strange comment..just strange where it came from. After returning home after a 5 hour drive I had "Bubba" in the driveway, washing the road grime off. A young boy was walking down the street walking his dog, he shouts out "Nice Car!" Now the kid was only maybe 11 or so, but does recognize a beautiful car...promising, very promising!

I can see where that comment pops up. I thought the Clubman would be too small for my tastes so I test drove one to be sure. Placed an order for one two days later!

Heck, A guy pulled up to me in a new Ford Flex the other day and it was
brown with a white roof, and said this is what my H/C clubman would look
like when it grew up. I told him it used to be that size until I washed it, they forgot to sanforize it, but it gets great mileage now.

Today in a mall parking lot a high school aged kid and his dad parked their Yukon next to my Clubman.
They were loading their SUV when I opened the barn door.
The son walked over and said, "Sweet, Dad look at this."
The Dad said, "Yeah, I can put this shopping cart in the back of mine."
I asked how many shopping carts he had at home.
He sulked off as his son laughed.
So I now know the purpose of giant SUVs. Steal shopping carts!

Try rebooting your PC and then try.

Last week, about 8:30 pm, pouring rain like cats-and-dogs... A mid-80's GM van pulls up on the passenger side at a light. The guy is motioning me to roll down the passenger side window, so I do. He looks and talks like a washed-up British rocker from the 70's (think Bill Nighy in Love Actually), and says (with a really think accent):
"F$%#'n love it mate! I used to have a Morris Countryman..."
We end up talking, back-and-forth until the light turns green.

Yeah, that made my day. The neat thing was that he must have known a little bit about the "new" cars, because at one point in our conversation he says, "I didn't realize you could get one of those in an 'S' model..."
As an aside, I was also surprised that same night, how good the Dunlop summer (performance) tires are in the rain. I was real tentative at first. Then I kept pushing a little harder, a little harder... Impressed!

I pulled into the parking lot at work the other day and got the station wagon
comment. "That's the first MINI I've seen in the station wagon model".
I told him it was the "stretch limo" version of the MINI. And went on to tell
him about it being 10" longer than the regular MINI and the suicide door on
the passenger side.
