As I understand it, sales in parts of the EU were down (eg, Spain thought the Clubman was too big), so those were 'moved' to the US requests. I'm not worried about quality...

This would make sense since the factories are/and have been at full capacity anyways. I hope and don't think quality will go down, they just have more experience . Sorry Spain but I'll happily take my US Supersized MINI.

Me too, thanks Spain, et al.

I see a lot of SMART cars in the EU and compared with a Clubman - yes the MCC is HUGE.

There are no "extra" engines, transmissions, ect required. They were going to go into cars for other parts of the world. The only strain points would be US unique equipment (say seat coverings). But since BMW runs such a lean operation, that flex ought to be easily adjusted.
