Finally got the bike rack in place. Now I hope to get some mountain biking in before the snow fall.

Well I tried to remove my fork mount bike racks and found the allen wench bolts to be all striped out. So it's back to the dealership for me.

and if you have the Clubman Factory Rails and Thule Racks

I fit the Thule 1054 mounts to the 09 Clubman S factory rails and used 50" cross bars. Fits perfectly and tightly

Astroclub - You have only made three posts and all of them are the same in three different threads.

Please DO NOT post the same question in more than one thread. THis will get you in trouble with the moderators and also upset may of the other people here.

Post your question once and you will get an answer.

Also i suggest you read the forum rules at https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/guidelines

Say, that is unpleasant to read in three consecutive threads, isn't it?

the only reason i made an account was to ask that question, hence posting it in 3 places, to get a quick response, so let's all relax a bit, cheers

So which is it: the rules don't apply to you, or rules are made to be broken?

Considering a Clubman with roof rails. Does anybody have the measurement for the maximum distance you can spread the crossbars from one another. I need to haul sea kayaks and the further the gap the better.

Thanks!

Well, if you're talking about the factory installed roof rails you should take a look at this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...il-option.html.

When you ask what the maximum distance is that you can spread the cross bars...well, I'll see what I can find out tomorrow morning. Meanwhile take a look at my photos on Flicker http://www.flickr.com/photos/otra/se...7609631424061/ and you'll see that there's quite a bit of room. You will probably have to remove the antennae though.

Thanks Otra, those photos really helped. According to Yakima the ideal gap between the front and rear crossbar should be 30-32 inches for longer objects like sea kayaks. Can I assume I can place the crossbars anywhere along the length of the rails or are there factors in the design that would reduce flexibility. The antennae would not have to be removed. The kayaks are 23 inches wide and are placed over the passenger and driver positions of the car, the antennae would pop up between them. Also the rails run wider than the roof line just a little bit to hold the outward kayak saddles.

Appreciate the links and the measurements when you can get to them.

Coney, I'm going to answer this on the other thread https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-option-2.html ...so as to keep the discussion in the "right" right place.
