What do you categorize a Clubman as?
I love the size and styling of the Clubman but am stumped as to what I should declare on my insurance form when I finally get it. Do I get lower rates if I can fool my insurance company into thinking it's a station wagon?
I don't know what category it fits in: medium car, station wagon or minivan. What do you have on your insurance form? Did you try (and succeed) in getting it classified the way you wanted? Or did the insurance company throw its hands up and say "Okay! It's a station wagon! End of argument!"

The Clubman is a...mullet!
Business in the front, party in the rear!
That's all I got.
I'm here till Thursday, try the veal.
I call it a sports car.
With the S' acceleration, you can blow plenty of people away when you need to scoot.
State Farm says the Clubman is a Station Wagon.

I did a lot of research on this "Station Wagon" discount. I've come to the conclusion that the body style your agent puts down on the application has nothing to do with your insurance premium for the car.
The insurance companies use the VIN on new cars to classify the vehicle. It also appears that there is no "body style" difference between the Cooper and the Clubman for insurance purposes. A Cooper may be slightly cheaper to insure, but only because it cost less to buy.
Since I own a Clubman, I wish this was true, but as far I can tell, it isn't.

The Cooper and the Clubman non-S have the same IRG.
The Coooper S and the Clubman S have the same IRG.

Hey, Peanut, PB&J, or whatever your name is:
This is "Clubman Talk".
Since you own a "NotaClubman", you might want want to wander over to the 1st Gen section and try to bully them for a while. I'm sure they will think you are the COOLEST over there.
You will lose here.
And you will certainly lose the Quick-Fire "Home Depot Challange"
Dat's da fact, Jack!

And you're wrong, I don't own "A" notaclubman.
And hey, what's with all the segregation talk... that's not very MINI of you.
And if I stayed in the first gen forums, I'd only have about 3,000 posts. And I'd have a lot less fun. Nah, I think I'll continue to poke my nose in the Clubman, R56, and Classic forums. Consider me well rounded.

Alright, Rich... you'd better hope you never have to settle a BI claim with me after THAT post.

You are correct. In numerical superiority alone, YOU CRUSH!

Sorry to interrupt with, oh, lets see, THE TOPIC (I kid because I love)
My insurance agent (Allstate) told me that it is solely based on VIN, and that according to his information the Clubman is categorized the same as the Cooper Hatchback (or S if yours is an S) with exactly the same rates for both.
As for I categorize it....I don't. It is in a class by itself

I definitely call my clubman a station wagon. My insurance company told me it was a wagon, and I went ahead and agreed with them. I believe the rates are still the same or close though....
There is plenty of doubt . Audi RS6 avant is a far cooler station wagon.....and that's coming from someone who LOVES his clubman. It's hard to beat the RS styling from Audi combined with a wagon that puts out 700+ hp and 0-60 times near 4 seconds......all while carrying your groceries home

I love my Clubman, but it isn't the hottest wagon. Fortunately, I cannot buy most of the above in the US, so the Clubman will do. Also, none of those get 30 mpg or cost $30K either.
