The install was fairly easy. IT was tricky getting the cap/cover off the lid part - there are several tabs that require a small screwdriver to pry off - I broke 2 in the process but it didn't hamper the re-install. Just take your time. While the directions say gluing wasn't necessary, I did hot glu the leather to the old cover - seemed to go back together smoother that way. I don't think the cover has made any difference in cover opening inadvertantly - still does if I somehow elbow it.
I got the extra padded version 1 1/8th" and it feels so much better than stock - actually very comfortable now...

After taking a long trip I found the standard armrest quite adequate and comfortable. I haven't had any problem with it sliding open unintentionally. I often use the storage area when I park somewhere to stow the iPod out of site. My digital camera also fits well in the compartment.

I love having an armrest, but will ask it to be replaced or fixed under warranty. The slightest pressure to the rear causes the lid to slide open. Very annoying and possibly dangerous.

Silly me. I thought the center armrest was where my iPod was supposed to rest after being connected to the car's stereo. I would have preferred it that way, as it would have already been out of sight when I got out of the car. Now I've got to disconnect it from it's cable, and stash it away. I know. I'm lazy!

Not much room in the center armrest for storage. I supposed I could take out the little plate in there. I believe it's a false bottom, so it can be removed and replaced with a larger cradle for various-sized phones.
