I would thorughley check the car out. Before I took delivery on mine I checked all fluid levels in the car, tire pressure in all 4 tires. I checked the weather sealing all around the car, I went over all of the pant to make sure it was all smooth, I checked the operation of all doors several times, I took the car for a test drive and tested out the ac, lights, radio. Just go over the car with a fine tooth comb before you take delivery. You want to be sure that the car is in perfect shape or is before you leave the dealership. You are about to drop at least 24k on this car so look it over real carefully. If soemthing is not reight tell the dealer and make sure it can be quickley fixed. Thats just me I might be a bit of a fanatic when it comes to this stuff.

Depending on your level of OCMD, and the amount of time you have been waiting, you may want to take your original order confirmation (feature list) with you, and simply go down the list, crossing them off as you go.

id personally insist they dont touch that new bumper with thier power drill and license plate bolts. I know here in Ohio theyll do it if you dont insist they dont..

not sure of your states laws, but some states w/o front plates will put them on to advertise

I don't like having any advertisements on my car...and my dealer Prestige put on a little plaque thing above the MINI emblem...I forgot to ask them not to put any of that on...

Have to say that besides having a mental check list about the options I've ordered on any of mine, and giving it a visual once over - that's all I've ever done. Perhaps it helps to have a trustworthy MA? Or perhaps I've just expected things to come as ordered and in good shape. I've never had anything wrong with any of my MINIs upon delivery.

Stay positive, keep your eyes open and enjoy!

I'm taking a black light with, plugging it in and running it past every inch of the exterior. Checks for scratches and whether the cig socket is working. :P

I made sure that the car was as ordered and then I made sure that they programmed the keys.

One thing you can do if you have the time is schedule delivery for a mid-week morning, when most dealerships are not that busy. Weekends are usually very hectic at most dealers. Ask your MA which is the least busy day, and schedule your pickup then. Daytime is also best for a thorough inspection of your new car.

Definitely go over your options list. I noticed the arm rest I ordered wasn't installed, had to make an appointment and have them do it a couple weeks after I picked my Clubbie up.

thanks for all the advice. without a checklist, i am just the kind of sucker who might be blinded by the new car's beauty & just hop in & go.

I ordered the sport stripes on mine and noticed the stripes on the boot didn't go all the way up to the window. I told the MA and he says that's how they are. But something about it told me it looked off, so I went to another Clubman with stripes and sure enough, the the stripes went up all the way to the window. I showed the MA and he said, "oh, we'll get it taken care of."

+1 on the midweek delivery. Also, go in the AM. Eat first. Take someone with you; even a semi-disinterested spouse will keep you from overlooking things in the heat of the moment.

After delivery, start a list of things you need/want attended to. This is easier to deal with if you live close to your dealer. O/W it has to wait until you either make a trip on purpose, or until the computer indicates service is needed.
