Attaching rear license plate to a Clubman

This is going to sound silly but...how do I attach a license plate to the rear of my Clubman? I purchased my car out of state without plates, and I can't seem to find any information on what size screws I should use. Here's what my rear plate area looks like:

There are 4 black self drilling screws holding this plastic base to the bumper. My license plate holes line up with the 4 unthreaded holes on the plastic base (and not the 2 metal threaded holes on the upper portion of the base). I took out the 4 screws that attach the plastic base to the bumper, and found that the base is also secured at the top to the underside of the bumper lip.

Am I supposed to use these 4 screws to secure my license plate to the plastic base? The 4 screws have bored through the bumper already, but since the entire area is covered by the plastic base I supposed 4 more holes wouldn't matter much. Are should I just a similar set of self drilling screws?

I've been searching all over but can't find an answer to this simple question. How did you attach your rear plate? And what are those 2 threaded screw holes for?

The two threaded screw holes are for the plate. My plate lines up with those.

Your Clubman didn't come with the screws? You should have received them. They are black.

Is your Clubman Hot Chocolate? We need pics!!

...Same as Lady G.
I checked every storage compartment and opening for all the expected Mini Stuff before driving off the lot.

It's strange that your delaer didn't put a dealer frame on the rear with an In Transit plate. They like to advertise for themselves.

You can just go down to the hardware store and ask the clerk to help you figure out which screws to get. Make sure you get stainless steel so they don't rust.

Texas plates do NOT line up with the threaded holes. I used supplied self-tappers in the plastic. Not real happy with that, so I may put t-nuts behind the plastic panel. I hope to install a minidomore hitch when it is available, and its receiver apparently will exit behind the license plate - I'll be R&R-ing the plate often to use the hitch.

Turns out there are screws that I was supposed to be supplied with when I picked up the car. My MA is having them mailed to me.

Every automotive supply store has screws specifically for mounting license plates. You can get them chromed or black. Some are all plastic, some are self tapping. There are usually lots of choices.
I'm surprised the dealer didn't put on one of their (tacky) plate frames.

My delaware tag lined up with the 4 self tapping holes. The dealer also did not give me screws and the car was bought out of state. Good luck.
