Where to get the tread screw that hold donut spare tire to the well?

I got a Cobalt's donut spare into the tire well a while back is it fit fine, but I would like to know where to get the big thread screw that secure the donut to the well in the middle like other cars has. The donut will bounce ups and down every time I cross a ramp and I would like to use the screw to hold it tight. Do I have to go through a MINI dealer?

Thanks

You need two pieces.

36-10-6-782-325 - Mounting Screw Spare Wheel

36-10-6-781-466 - Spare wheel retainer

Both avaliable from your local mini dealer, OEMPARTS.com or CLasis Mini in Ohio will ship you the parts.

Question for you. Does the spare tire you bought fit over the brakes?

I have not found one that does fit over the brakes and also in the spare tire well.

It fits the back only.

That's a good failsafe to keep people from putting the donut spare on the front. You should NEVER do that on a front drive car.

I went to my independent local hardware store and found the right dimension, 10 mm I tihnk, and a black rubber thick washer. The total cost was less than $1. It is an allen head bolt in matt black. Simple and cheap.

I do not have a spare as of yet and probably will never as i do not mind the ride of the Run-Flats and the space where the spare fits is full of other stuff now.

But the question is now to Prost. Where did you buy your spare.

Good thought. What length bolt did you buy?

Mounting screw = $2.63
Spare Wheel Retainer = $8.10
from Mini of Peabody (Massachusetts)

I also bought a trunk tray (the styrofoam thing), part number 71-10-778-759 for a Cooper that fit in my Clubman S for $47.09....kind of expensive, but it fits nicely.

Any pictures? Is this different from the one for Clubman?

I'll try to get a picture...and yes, it is different. Because my Clubman S came with runflats, it came without a spare tire and the tray filled up the spare tire area. The tray that I bought accommodates the spare.

No, the space saver spare that I got from Mini does not fit over my brakes (on my Clubman S)....so if I have a front that goes flat I have to move one of my rears to the front. Per my dealer, Mini does not offer a space saver spare that will fit over the S brakes. The space saver spare that I have fills the hole in the trunk.

Also, since I bought a Limited Slip Differential, I would have to do this anyway because I could not run different size tires on my drive wheels without damaging the Differential. If you don't have Limited Slip you don't have to worry about this.
