Remove windshield wipers

I need to remove the whole windshield wiper-both of them. The plastic part covering the master cylinder has to be removed because I dropped a part in and cannot retrieve otherwise.

Question: How do you remove the windshield wipers?

There is a decorative trim piece that pops off hiding the nut that holds it on. the piece is easy to take off, just grab it by the edge and lift up (away from the windshield.)

Here you can see the cover I'm referring too, part number 7

Apropos of nothing, I like that what I would call the "passenger's side" is called out on the drawing as "co-drivers side" - now THAT's keeping the focus on driving.
