Bumper top protection

Has anyone found a bumber strip that goes on the top of the bumber to protect it when you load stuff in the boot? Mini makes one for the hardtop but I have not found one for the clubman.

MINI only has a clear one for the Clubman, basically like clear bra material. It is $36.34 through Morristown MINI, and it is part number 51140435870.

There's a black one too. I've seen it on a few Clubmans on a dealer's lot up here in Canada. I'll post the No. when I get it.

I have clear bra type on mine-put on by our local clear bra installer. He custom cut it.

I haven't found one but have been actively looking for it. I opted against the clear bra version because you can see scratches on the surface of clear bras. Looking for rubberized version.

Check local dealer parts Dept.

I just got off the phone with a SoCalDealer parts dept. and they had a Black one in stock, for the Clubman. I didn't get the part # but will if I go by there tomorrow..I think they were on the configurator when I ordered my Clubman in October. Now the box for them under "protection" shows them unavailable.

As others have mentioned, you can get the "rear bumper protection strip" in either BLACK or CLEAR. I will be doing the clear version on my clubby

The MINI Motoring accessories brochure (probably close to a year old) I have has pictures of the black version in it.........looks fine with darker colors/roofs but if you have silver Cs and roof and/or lighter paint color I would opt for the clear

My dealer said they only have it for hatchbacks not clubman you if you happen to have a black part number that would be great.

While we're on this topic, is it possible to buy the strip alone and install it yourself? I think it sounds kinda wasteful to pay someone else to put on what is hardly more than a sheet of clear sticky plastic on the bumper. Do you get it from the dealer or a website?

As the bumper has a slight crease in it, it is not just as easy as you think. With the crease you have to stretch the material and if you don't get it exact you get wrinkles. Then you hve to take it off and get another one. I would rather pay a professional to do it then have to buy the item twice or more times.

I had mine don at a local shop for $45.00 So for the price of the clear bra and the install i could only have bought the Mini part approximately 1.4 times.

I checked again with my dealer today and they showed my the accessory list and the only thing for a clubman was clear(the hardtop has black and clear). I guess I will just wait for the black on the become available again.

Went by dealer and there is no black one, they were mistaken and there is a clear one only. There is a black one for the R56. Sorry for the mistake..

I had mine installed at delivery in May, the dealer uses something other than the factory MINI options. I think 3M.

If there isn't one available, i'm sure a local tint shop will create one that suits your needs.

My husband bought the clear one for my birthday. It was NOT a success. It didn't conform to the bumper and the tool used to smooth it out scratched it. He had a black one he put on his hatchback with great ease and success so then got that one for me as well. Although it doesn't fit the whole length of the bumper it's just long enough to match the opening of the doors. The clear one is a very different material. Love the black MC one.

I put one on our Lexus this summer. It wasn't that tough. You need a squeezie of some sort and lots of real soapy water. We covered the bumper with the soapy water, placed the film on the bumper and carefully worked out the water & air bubbles from under the film. The soapy water allows time to slide the film around to position it. Don't do it in the full sun on a hot day.
Once warm weather returns we'll do it to the MINI.

I just got the black one put on my R56. My sales guy did it for me. He also said the trick is to use water (he didn't mention soapy water, but that makes sense). I wasn't there to watch him, but the finished product looked good and I didn't have to pay the installation charge. What a nice guy!

Just order one from Canada, the exchange rate favours the U.S. right now

Do you have a pic with the hatchback one on the clubman?

I went to the Ace hardware store and noticed that they sell materials to do this yourself(I'm thinking basically a clear plastic and black rubbery mat like material). The clear plastic is to have a smooth finish to stick to the rear bumper black rubbery material so that it won't be easily scratched. However, as someone said, the groove is gonna be an issue. I'm almost thinking it would have to be 2 pieces.

I got the clear one, installed by the dealer. They said it wasn't the MINI clear bra, but a different (3M?) product they liked better. They emphatically insisted that it would protect the bumper from dog claws.
They were wrong, my 4 month old Clubbie has a scratched up rear bumper top that matches the 4 year old JustaCooper I traded in for it
(and my dogs are fairly small and I keep their nails short for agility).
