Why on Earth would you fire up a car to drive 1 mile to work? Bad for the car, bad for the environment. The oil will NEVER come up to operating temperature. Do the right thing and walk to work or get a bicycle. Save car usage for when it's really necessary...
Hah say what?? I have a 09 MCSa JCW, and I am not sure what U mean by this--certainly it can handle 189 hp day in/day out, the Aisin is not that much of a lightweight by any means. Unless of course you work for Aisin Intl.--and you know the tranny's limitations--or U have some sort of magic crystal ball that sees into the future, yr statement holds little credence.
He's referring to a 208hp factory JCW. Even the manual tranny in that car is upgraded from the MCS.
I test drove a 2009 JCW Clubman launch car this weekend and must say they are sweet. I didn't notice as much of a difference as I thought I would compared to my S though. In third gear, the pull is stronger and in sport, I didn't notice a big change. Not as much Torque steer as I had been warned about either. All things considered, I will not be upgrading to a JCW at this point. Now the GP I saw looked really cool. I sat in it and dreamed of taking it for a spin..
Does anyone know if the $2K range is all inclusive?
msrp on the tune kit (airbox, exhaust, ecu remap, COA, badges) is $2,100, and labor takes 2 hours (some dealers charge a lot more) for about $2,300, depending on yr market and labor rates.

well, his quote seemed directed otherwise:
The auto will never match up even with the kits, the tranny just won't handle it over time, either by design or by the romping on it.
I knew the clutch and flywheel were upgraded, but I didnt know the Getrag was. I thought it was capable of much more HP/torque than anything MINI offered to date.

The standard tranny is quite capable of standing up to the factory JCW power, but for some reason they did equip it with a stronger tranny. That just gives us more opportunity for tuning without fear of affecting the reliability.
I own a JCW clubbie; it's a sweet ride but i didn't see much different from the S. i suggest you save all that cash and spend it on something else... :/
