i dont think it's an issue of being afraid, it's just dealing with the unfamiliar. The paddles felt awkward for me the first 500 miles, now they're second nature. About the only time I use it in D-Sport is early in the AM when the car is warming up and Im driving to work, then I use the pads to downshift as needed.

Hopefully it isn't about fear. The great thing about shifting with steptronic is you really can't screw it up. It has a rev-limiter, so you can't over rev. It wont let you shift if it's not a good for the engine.

Some folks dont like this computer interference in M mode, but I could care less. It's still a blast, and the paddles impress the chicks.

Say what? BS comments like this are one reason why Im beginning to hate online forums in general.

If U cant contribute anything positive and/or relevant to the OP's request and subsequent discussion-- it's obvious U have issues with autos--why do you bother posting?

Go rain on someone else's parade.

I use the paddles to downshift as I approach lights, it allows me to slow the car nicely without having to use the brakes. And, if the light happens to change while I'm rolling up to it, I'm already in the right gear for a peppy takeoff

And SurfLink, I didn't take offense at your comment, some folks seem to have their feelings poked out around here...

Don't apologize, you made a slight jab. Manual vs. Auto people used to laugh about things like this all the time. Now we all worry about hurting auto people's feelings.

I really dislike this new PC world we live in and fear my my children's world.

Autos are for women.

See what I did here? I offended those women who actually drive manuals by being a typical man. And I also offended men who drive autos by calling them sissys. Offending two groups is the key to offending none.

yeah, it's all good. i was having fun myself. unfortunately, my wife is one of those "women" that don't drive manual so i'm stuck with auto, but the steptronic does help. otherwise, in nyc, i've grown to love auto. i'm comfortable with my "women"-ness. don't need to compensate with the stick.

Thanks for the comment, some do overreact I guess. I was repeating what I heard from a respected driver speaking with other drivers at a professional racing event. I feel the same way, auto-trans do have a place, just not for me. I also am aware that the autos have progressed to a point where some feel they are the new "peanut butter and jelly" or "sliced bread". For my driving, I prefer the manual.I don't do a whole lot of straight line stuff.. and really like a canyon run. I hope this is allright to post here..

you can install boost gauge to tell when you are at max boost.. i saw them on Minimania.. i will get all 4 gauges.. hate not knowing it. i have them on my big PU. shifting would be more fun to see on the boost gauge..
