Black parts for Clubman

I am on the verge of ordering a Clubman either red or green. I really like some of the pictures I have seen where the chrome exterior parts turned black. Who sells these? The main one I like is the chrome ring that goes around the bottom of the glass around the Clubman. Is this just painted? If so who does it and how much does it cost?

I looked around to no avail

Thanks

You have lots of options. You can get some factory paint in rattle cans from Minspeed.com (or the also have pre-painted parts), vinyl wraps from Lyles Vinyl Styles, plastic clip ons (a new big hit for ease of install and removal if you don't like it or your mood changes) from Aesthetic Creations, you can plasti-dip it yourself, or you can get it professionally done.

i believe the chrome ring you're talking about is the beltline. this can be "blacked-out" with some electrical tape and patience in the order of about an hour at most.

search the modification forums for the phrase "black out" and you'll find what you're looking for. be careful though, too much black on a non black car looks just as distracting as chrome. turning chrome to body color though, very nice...

I like the same color rings around the headlights.

The idea of electrical tape just seems a little cheap . Are there any other solutions? Seems kinda silly that Mini would not offer this as a factory option, they seem to offer everything else, well except a good looking set of rims from the factory.

What is everyones experience with the vinyl wrap product? The idea of a wrap instead of paint makes me think it will not last.

sorry, i should correct myself. the "tape" is a vinyl wrap that you install yourself over the beltline. it's very similar to electrical tape in appearance and costs about as much, i believe.

and depending on where the piece you wrap is, it could last a long time. like the gas cap could be wrapped and look good for a long time; the headlight grill surrounds (due to rocks and such) not so much...
