Good luck with the battery issue. I'd have them check the entire charging system and grounds as I have read a few complaints.

If it makes you feel better I bought a 2009 Clubman JCW in May and the battery died within a week as well. The dealer replaced it under warranty and I have had no issues since. Enjoy the car.

Thanks. Part of the purchase deal was having Flow Mini go through the car prior to receipt of the car. They replaced the coil and plugs due to a code and the passenger side glass would go down on "door open", but would not go back up on "door close". I called the dealer while it was in the service bay and had a long talk with them since the car was serviced from beginning at their dealership so I feel pretty good about it. I just can't wait to get it out and drive it!

James, I wish I had seen your for sale, I would have loved to had a 2010...

There are a couple of issues you may want to have Flow Mini look into when they look at the car. One is the timing chain issue - both of my 09 Clubman's have required work on this issue. The second is the water-pump that cools the Turbo - I think there is a fairly recent service bulletin relating to a possible fire issue - which seems counterintuitive to me that a water-pump can be a fire issue - but apparently there is a circuit board in water-pump which is potentially problematic so MINI has issued a service bulletin. I know it effects the 2009 model year and I need to confirm my cars have had the replacement.

John, will do, I'm planning on taking it over tomorrow. Turns out the battery is not the culprit, so it must be the starter. I pulled the battery yesterday and took it to Autozone for them to bench test. It tested fine, so I can assume it is the starter. I'll let you know the outcome once I can take it over for repairs.

Got my Mini back today from the dealership. Turns out it was the starter and it is working correctly now. They also replaced the battery so that's a plus as well. I'm just glad to finally be driving it! Can't wait to find a curvy road on the way home...

2009 almost 43,000, no issues that I know of, bought used at just over 37,000. The service light just came on and says I need to change the rear brakes. I'm about 200 miles from the nearest Mini dealer so I'll probably atempt to change them myself to save the travel and cash.

There are no mods no completly stock. I do plan on changing up the air filter k&n type and moding the factory intake box. Thinking of upgrading the plugs and wires as well. Does anyone know if this is a simple job or a hard one?

I bought a 2010 brand new. Water pump went out at 52k and that was dissapointing. This week I was hit with the dreaded timing chain replacement at 88k. That was an expensive fix...

So far "Sparkle", our 2009 R55 Clubman (non-S) has been fun, solid and comfortable to drive. Just passed 75k miles, and have owned it since 63k miles.

About 2 weeks ago I pulled in to fuel up, hit the start button afterward - and realized it hadn't started after about 10 seconds of trying - wuh oh. Hit the gas some and she started, but not idling normally.

Idle problems (stalling and wandering mostly)
Close Gas Cap warning (it was fine but I re-installed it to make sure)
Check Engine Light this afternoon

Looked around under the hood to check everything, as I was away from the house, and the coolant was just below min in the reservoir......

I'll be getting cozy with this thing and working through these things myself most likely (hearing the cost?! of some of the timing and pump issues) - partly due to the nearest dealer being a 4 hour drive away from me. She's been serviced mostly by MINI, and I use true synthetic in all our vehicles.

Think I'll start looking for a water pump, thermostat and timing assembly just to be safe. I love this car and want a few more :-D

Just an update from my last post. "Emma" is doing well. Last major issue was the original water pump failed at 99.5k. Other than that, I'll be doing my first oil change on my own.
I will have to finally get an alignment done as my Hankooks in the back are wearing too much on the outside. But other than that no complaints.

My 2009 JCW Clubman was just in having the brake fluid changed and the micro filter changes at 33K. This was from the service light coming on. At pick-up the dealer said the car was perfect after they do their standard inspection - where they are looking for more things to do. I did have the timing chain tensioner changed at about 30K under warranty as I was experiencing the "death rattle" this again was under warranty and the death rattle is now completely gone - even after I haven't driven the car for a week or 10 days. I still love driving the car :-)

81,000 on my 2009 clubman still running fine. No major problems until today right barndoor won't close. It seems like an electrical problem. Only repairs have been new brakes and change oil every 6k miles. Took run flats off with in 3 months upgraded to Advanti Racing 17" with Yokohama tires, blacked out all the chrome and ut a JCW black grill and trim kit.

2009 Clubman S, AT just rolled over 58k. Standard repairs thus far, front brakes twice so far (due again in 17k more miles), rear brakes once (due again in 20k miles), timing chain and tensioner at 41k (warrantee -- s/b recall) (seems to have cured the death ratlle thus far), Oil changes every 8k or 6 months, vanos solenoid replaced at about 44k (warranteed) , spark plugs done at 50k, water pump at 51k ($550 at the local dealership), turb water pump replaced (recall), New windshield at 58k (couldn't fill the last chip...), all seems to be running well. I expect it to roll up to about 75k by December of 14, when the MINI service agreement expires. At that point it's keep on runnin' or trade up to a Countryman S (FWD and loaded!)

Currently at 112k (2009 Clubman).

Just had a wheel bearing done. The spare wheel well was re-sealed as I had water coming in from under the car. Also had the brake master cylinder replaced around 75,000 as it was leaking.

Lady Godiva is currently at little over 141,500 miles!

New thermostat at 139,800 miles.

New turbo at 103,550 miles as the wastegate started to fail.

That's about all for "major" issues. Still on her original clutch.

Oil changed every 5k miles and she only gets Shell V-Power 93 octane.

I love her just as much as I did on the day I brought her home in June of 2008!

It's not preventable that I know of. I've heard of a few other MINIs having the same issue.

Here's the turbo: http://www.waymotorworks.com/stock-c...8-r59-r60.html

147000 miles on my 08. Lots of little nagging issues. I came here today to see if I could get a line on why the car overheats quickly while idling now. I have to skip drive thru's and parking lots make me nervous.

I do believe I need a timing chain. I am getting a cam sensor code, cam sensors have been replaced.
