Wow, just wow

finally the pickup pulled off the road and the Porsche Carrera in front of me stood on it...

We had three miles and 1500' of climbing full of hairpins and esses to go. I was in sport mode and in manual shifting on the paddles.

I punched it and went after the Carrera through the first set of esses and was on his tail going through a steep 90* right into a 1/2 miles set of climbing esses into a set of hairpins. I stayed right with him and I could see his outer rear tire and body yawing through the turns. I was going up and down through the gears from 2 through 4 and really on it [damn I like the throaty roar of the dual exhausts]. The Carrera was not able to pull away from my stock Clubman S and in the really tight hairpins he was swinging wide and diving in while I took the tight inside line and pulled right up on his butt and stayed with him as we accelerated up the final few straits leading to the road along the summit, where we shut it down a bit. The Carrera pulled off at one of the first roards leading westward giving me a thumbs up out his window

Man I am so sold on the Clubman S that I think I'm not going to miss my Boxster anymore

Thanks, Buzzcut.
That was fun to read! It gives me -S envy. Nice gallery too, your silver Cooper is now part of my Apple TV slide-show, and I hope I remember this day in its life when I see it on my screen.
The rack looks great on the roof rails.

And to clarify for the forum Gestapo: this was all done by professionals on a closed course!

No worries. He doesn't mention his Speedometer in the post. And the speed limit on this road was 105.

Buzz,
My son and I had the same exact experience
with only 1 small difference:
We were on his PlayStation 3.
