The other option now if you want OEM, is the new JCW gauge pack.

It's beyond me why Mini doesn't include oil pressure, water temperature, and a volatge gauge in their cars. These are basic gauges found on most automobiles and are helpful in detecting potential engine troubles. I like to know when my engine is warm, that my alternator is charging at the correct volatge, and that my oll pressure is normal. Kind of basic....eh?

That was only in response to the OP asking about a temp gauge. I've never had the others in a vehicle so can't say if I would consider them useless. Oil pressure and temp would be nice in a single gauge opposite the water temp gauge on each side of the tach.

+1. So not used to don't have the engine temp....

That's what I like about the Chrono Kit in the first-gen MINI - it gives you coolant temp, oil temp, and oil pressure. I'm hoping that they introduce something similar for the newer MINIs eventually.
The only good thing I can say about the coolant temperature idiot light in the second-gen MINI is that at least it's a two-color light, so it will give you *some* kind of indication before the engine actually no-kidding overheats.

It's continuous. I have mine set to show coolant temp, intake air temp, electrical voltage, and manifold air pressure all at once.

Have you ever compared the ScanGauge voltage readout to a measurement taken with a voltmeter right at the battery? When I've installed voltage gauges in the past, I've found that the voltage readings you get from the ignition wiring, cigarette lighter socket, fuse box, etcetera are often lower than the actual battery voltage.
Of course it doesn't matter much if you're only monitoring trends, I was just curious.

That's exactly the readouts I use on mine, too. They seemed to be the most useful and fill-in for the non-existent Mini gauges. It is a damn shame that the customer has to do things like this, Mini should have included these gauges with the original instrument cluster.
The cool thing about the manifold air pressure (MAP) reading is that it can also be used as a surrogate turbo boost gauge. Jump on the throttle and watch its readout go from 4.5 to 27.5 in a second. By deducting ambient air pressure (approx. 14.5 in my location) from the reading, I can divine the boost being applied.
So, a reading of 27.5 = approx. 13 lbs. boost (27.5 - 14.5). I found that it will hold that value for several seconds, indicating that the overboost function seems to be working on mine...w00t!
2 big thumbs-up for ther ScanGauge II, it was the easiest after-market install I have ever done, took all of 2 minutes. I found it for $125 on Amazon.com. And I found that it mounts nice and neat and clean to the dash in the little area to the left of the steering wheel. I simply used some store-bought 2" velcro strips that I got from the local fabric stores for $1.00
