Jarid,

Thanks so much for the ride in your Clubman S! I loved the exhaust sound! All those Alta goodies gave the ride some righteous power!

No dyno numbers just yet. I do have a Unichip Ecu which has been pretty good. Hopefully soon I can throw it up on the dyno and get an idea of what power my car is making! Its a fast beast!!

Awesome 'sounds good' thanks. Since I don't yet have my clubman S, n00b question, do you get the "turbo hiss" with the stock parts, or is aftermarket intake needed to hear that?

Thanks

Jeff

Aftermarket intake is what gives you the pppssshhhhh sound durning shift. The turbo hiss or whistle is due to (i think if i remember) my ECU upgrade. Car has more boost than stock. My car has been modded since 1300 miles so IIRC you got a little whistle under hard boost during "sport mode" driving but not much?

Stock you get a bit of it. When I ran my cold air intake you could hear it great! The wife hated it so sold the CAI.

You mean the 'pshh' sound like air being released from an airbreak or something. I know it's from the blow off valve, just not sure how to describe it lol

Guess i'll have to get me an intake when I get my car. I promised the GF I would not mod my car until i/we get a house, but that might be a year or so and i REALLLLY wanna mod a TINY bit, so maybe an alta intake and that's it for now LOL

Adam, does the exhaust make the burbles & pops? I heard this was more a an ECU thing that causes that. I think our brothers across the ocean have more burbles than we get here in the states. I would LOVE to have that sound, but alas I think I am outta luck

The cat-back can't make an CEL's since it is totally behind the O2 sensors and catalysts.

On the burbles and pops, the ECU controls the fueling needed to make it occur, but the ALTA exhaust helps amplify it a bit. The JCW mapping introduces the bubbles. Cooper S models not so much.

Does that help at all?

Alta 3" Cat-Bac

Put the Alta 3" Cat-Bac w/Oval tip on my '08 MCS in Apr. No other mods at the time. I'm a really happy camper! Felt the difference the instant I pulled out of the shop, especially the torque. Spool-up feels a lot quicker than the 200rpm Alta claims. The sound is great, no ratty snapping, cracking and poping like the JCW, Borla, etc. I've heard. Just a deep, mellow growl at normal speeds. Up shift BOV "Pop" is now a deep "Thud". Coolest sound is on really steep down grades. I swear it sounds like and old Offy 270! Have since put on Alta's high flow airfilter and M7's turbo down tube. Figure I'm up ~15WHP and at least 20ft.lb of torque with no change in mpg.

Thanks Dwight! Really appreciate the business and the candid comments! (Especially the Offy 270 reference! )

Have a great week!
