Clubman vs. Cooper

Hey. I have one quick question...

Well the other day I went to my local Mini Dealership to look at some Mini's. I am looking into owning one. I prefer the Clubman's, but their were none that i could take out for a test drive. The dealer instead offered a test drive an a regular Cooper S. It was spectacular.

Im just wondering if their is any noticeable differences when driving a Mini Cooper and a Mini Cooper Clubman. I was told by the salesman that they are virtually the same.

Just wandering! Thanks

The question is really not Coupe vs Clubman, it is to S or not to S. And it is much debated.

The Clubbie is a little longer and heavier - nets a smoother ride IMHO.

Try another dealer. I'm picking up my new Clubman S in a few days. Before I ordered it, my dealer offered test rides in Cooper, Cooper S, Clubman, Clubman S, and all in both automatic and manual. And probably Cabriolets, too, but I didn't ask.

We test drove coopers, cooper S's, clubmen, clubmen S's....both in manual and automatic.

We elected to go with the Clubman S over the Cooper S for several reasons but the cargo room was the biggest reason. The short shift manual transmission is great and while we were debating the auto/manual thing we found a manual on the lot. With it's "hill assist", a feature I had never heard of before, it makes it that much easier on my wife.

As far as the rides go....we found really no discernable difference. I am not a race car driver but to me they performed identically. Other's may probably notice a difference but we did not.

Pure fun to drive!

The differences in the driving experience are small. The largest difference being between the Non-S and S.

If you need the extra space it is great to have a clubman.

Test drove all four models last year and the S Clubman was what did me the best. Great performance and room for my 80 lbs black lab. The coop was just to small.

Yesterday afternoon i needed straw for covering a newly tilled and seeded lawn. i got three bails in the clubman with no problem. Had just enough to finish the job at hand. would never have been able to get it all in a coop.

Thanks for your guys' help! And just by the way...If I were to get a Mini (I want one) it would definitely be a manual S!
