R55 Hauling with a MINI?

Hauling with a MINI?
Hope I'm not bringing down some kind of bad karma by asking, but here goes. I've been looking at these small "micro travel trailers" and thought they'd be great for road tripping. The issue, of course, is that they're towed via trailer hitch. So, is it possible to put a hitch on a Mini? And would I get hooted off the road by other Mini enthusiasts if I tried such a thing?

I've been hauling a sportsrig trailer with my minidomore hitch. I just bought, but haven't yet used, a hitch platform, I'm hoping it works OK. (Don't buy MINIDOmore's, it doesn't fit in their own hitch, and it cost me $50 to send back, and he didnt' refund all of my money, so I'm ticked).

No issues whatsoever! Driving a trailer with the MINI is a lot more fun than in the truck - the trailer goes EXACTLY where the MINI goes; no unnecessary fishtailing. The only issue is when other people on the road end up driving OFF the road trying to get a picture of it.... (My trailer license plate says, HERWEGO - along with the MINI's plate: x UHOH x...I get a lot of people trying to snag pics.)

RedC40, what micro travel trailer were you thinking of specifically? I'm intrigued....
I have an vintage Eriba Familia (German) travel trailer that I want desperately to tow with my Clubman that I pick up in a week. The weight of the Eriba is about 1,500 lbs.
Please keep us posted if you do end up towing a micro!

about those frame bolts
I'll keep looking at other threads, but I found this one first. When you install the MiniDoMore hitch, the bolts that attach it to the actual frame seem to be glued in place. Any hints about that part of the install?
I plan to tow this (a mini teardrop, as mentioned above!)

and this guy....
Well, you get the idea.
The biggest problem I see is not the weight of the trailer, it's the additional weight of all the people and stuff you need to bring along too. If you have a Clubman S and you're not towing in the Rocky Mountains, I think you'd be fine, just pack lightly.

I do alot of towing with my R50. No problems whatsoever. Right now I have a customized old Starcraft popup camper (really just painted to match the car and a bit remodeled inside). Also, I have a Harbor Freight 4x8 utility trailer that I use quite often. I've hauled a motorcycle from Indiana to North Dakota, moved pianos on two separate occasions, and hauled countless loads of mulch, lumber, and whatever on it. Oh, then there's the sailboat I towed to West Virginia.
What an awesome little car!

NICE BMW! I have a 1975 R75/6 myself in the classic black/white pinstripe paint. Nowhere near as awesome as yours, but I enjoy it.
My hitch is on the way, and I'm working on finding a trailer so I can haul my bike down to Deals Gap etc. Rode it down from Toronto last fall, but I'd rather have more time down there than spend 2 days riding just to get there.
