Adding Alarm and Sirius Options after purchase

Back when I had my 2003 Mini Cooper you could add both the factory alarm and factory sat radio easily after purchase by ordering the parts from the dealer.

I'm trying to keep my 2010 Clubman S below 35k and having a hard time doing it. Can these two options still easily be added after I purchase the car at a later time?

for a rediculous price. alarms usually run $250, you install, pay the dealer to activate.

I've seen posts here that Sat-rad runs upwards of $1200 to have it installed.

You could go the buy the parts route on both and install yourself, but he problem is that the car still has to go back to the dealer to be programmed and that in itself is expensive. I have heard prices from $250 to $1000 to just reprogram the car for those items.

check over int eh NAV and AUDIO section the re is a lot more info there on these items.

why bother with SIRIUS when you can just plug in a thumbdrive or an ipod ? Sat radio was one of the few options i ignored and I have yet to listen to commercial radio in the MINI. Considering you are trying to budget and SIRIUS comes with a monthly fee, eliminating it seems like an obvious choice.
Also consider that Howard very well may leave SIRIUS soon and that company is gonna struggle to stay afloat. If they stop broadcasting, your SIRUIS option just turned into a total waste of money.

I just installed my Pioneer INNO SAT Rec in the center armrest. I have the smartphone prep, but don't use it. I have a BB Tour and there is NO need to put it in the arm rest.

So, I decided to put the little INNO in there. All the wires run down under the center console and plug in at the AUX input. The 12v is plugged in the power outlet by the cup holders for now. I will tap into the fuse box eventually. You don't even know there is a SAT radio in the car...no exposed wires, no exterior mounted sat antenna...tapped in under seat.

I slide the armrest back and there it is with the ability to change channels. Truthfully I listen to about 5-6 channels and they are on my favorite list and that's it.

As for recorded music...I have a thumb drive with ALL of the music I need and it is plugged in next to the AUX input. I leave the Itouch at home.

I will post pictures of the armrest install later.

Thanks for the info! I love my sat radio. I can't imagine life without it. I'm also a little funny when it comes to cars . I like to keep them stock as much as possible.

Considering the programming cost I will probably save up a little longer.

It's funny who would have thought you could spend $35k for a MINI. They are overpriced for sure but I'll still order one.
