Retro-fit spoiler

Has anyone added the spoiler after market to their mini? Thinking of adding roof spoiler to 08 clubman.

I was contemplating the JCW roof spoiler and opted not to get it. I kind of like the roofline the way it is and didn't think it needed it. It is ONLY for aesthetics and serves NO purpose other wise. Unless your driving 150+, maybe it will help.

Another concern was that it STICKS on with adhesive and no bolts to hold it to the roof.

Here are the installation instructions.

"Another concern was that it STICKS on with adhesive and no bolts to hold it to the roof. "

I dont think thats true for all if any of these now as mine is bolted on, maybe the JCW is different?

I did add mine as they "Forgot" to put it on at the factory.

Be Forwarned!!!

It costs $200 to add as an option when building at the factory... I ended up spending $600 to get mine put on with installation. They had to take out the entire rear interior to install it!! Lots of labor cost!!

Mini of SF was supposed to sell it to me at cost and install it for approx $400, then it became, "well it comes unpainted so we have to paint it" then after it was painted, " We dont do the installs here so you have to go to a body shop"

If I had to do it again I would NOT pay $600 for a spoiler!

I was holding the JCW in my hand a couple weeks ago and I can tell you for sure...IT is held on by Adhesive with NO bolts. You have to pay extra for the adhesive.

As for the Factory NON JCW. That one is BOLTED to the car.

Yep, the JCW spoiler is glued. I bet the wing itself would break before the bond would though...

Effective Roof Spoiler Needed

It's really unfortunate that there doesn't seem to be a Clubman roof spoiler on the market that isn't just cosmetic. An adjustable carbon fibre wing with black anodized billet mounts would sell like crazy. Not some silly stick-on thing that looks like it was designed by Gumby. Wake up M7!!
