The MINI and the Flat

Going home from work last monday, as I am 2 miles from the house, and it's all backroads thru suburbia, I was just tootling along.Made my second turn up the street and felt a little bump. Thought absolutly nothing about it, then the car started chiming away, looked at the little display and it eas giving me a Low Tire pressure in RED! Never saw that before, so it keep moseying along. The chime seemed to get louder, didn't really feel anything different until I made another turn, and be back kinda wobbled. This ain't good, and I won't make it to the House. So I pulled over, got out and the rear passenger was totally flat. Started walkin home, as my co-workers honked at me (Letter Carriers) and no, they can't give no rides. Got home, loaded the 2006 Mustang with the floor jack and the breaker bar, went back. Changed out the flat with the spare, drove the Mustang back home and walked back to the car. Drove it to the Firestone down the road, they took the tire and put it on the machine and took off the tire, then they started laughing. I walked out into the bay, they kid turned around and handed me a Spark-plug, a BIG spark-plug. There was no way that they could patch that hole, as it ripped thru the belts and they didn't have a patch that big. No charge, they just shook their heads as they didn't have a tire to replace it. Went back home, and started calling around, first call was to Discount tire and lo and behold they had 5! Said I just needed one, as the tires don't have even 5K on 'em.
Bring it on they said, when I got there, the manager seemed to be waiting on me, As when I said I had the MINI he just walked outside, took the tire and mounted a new one. With all those people ahead pf me, he jumped right on it, and even gave me road-hazard on all 4 tires for $20 extra bucks. 2 hours of fun, and $155 later it's fixed. They even re-used my MINI weight, he said he was just that way with cars.

Heh.

I never knew you could get road-hazard coverage on tires you already owned like that...

My favorite part is where you rescued the Mini with your '06 Mustang!

Hope you kept the spark-plug as a trophy! I saved a huge nail that ripped the side of one of my run-flats last December; it happen on my way back home after I purchased my car (and yes, I am getting rid of the flats this spring!)

Sounds like quite an adventure. You know there's a jack and lug wrench under the floor in the boot and a spare tire under the rear

Yes Dad. I was on a hill, and I wouldn't use the supplied jack unless there was no other option, as it does not look very sturdy to me, but that's just me.
