Dust buildup on back of mini...

What can be done about the dust buildup on the rear of a Clubman? Does the spoiler help or is this just the aerodynamics of the Clubman and, as such, the dust is unavoidable?

Yeah. It's gets the dirtiest on the whole car. Another one of the quirks.

...you can see out the back of yours...hmmm...what's wrong with mine then!

...yep another quirk...adding a spoiler won't cure the aero.

many have tried both roof spoilers and mudflaps and nothing will cure the problem. It is a quirk of all flat back cars such as teh clubman, I see many mini vans and SUV's that are jsut as bad after a short drive.

Every car is the same way. The back is always the dirtiest, no matter the car make/model.

I checked the back of mine and it has two little windows. Now I keep it clean by driving in reverse and washing it more often!

I notice it is hard to keep clean specially with the snow still melting in some areas an water still running across some roads. I took the car to the dealer for maint and they filled the washer with some mistery fluid that stinks and dry way too fast to help clean. It also foams a lot.

careful with that fluid... it's what ate through my clear coat and ruined my hood.

Think any hatchback/wagon gets dirty back there easily.

Yeah, Cooper, Clubman, it doesn't seem to matter. The boot is always the dirtiest. It is very disconcerting though. I've never owned a vehicle where the rear end got so dirty so quickly.

It's easy to prevent: Only drive in reverse.

The easiest way to keep it clean is buy a California Car Duster. Its sold at Wal-Mart and cost about $10. Looks like a mop on a handle but the things are amazing, have used them for at least 5 years and will take all the dust and dirt off between washes. Used it on my 335i and my wifes X3 before the Clubman and works great on the Clubman. We have the black trim on our Clubman so the back shows dirt fast but the Car Duster makes it look good. You can do the entire car in about 30 seconds and they claim the dirtier it gets the better it works.

dust/dirt on boot is unavoidable,
raise boot and look at lip where bottom of boot contacts bumper

I will keep that in mind. I might just drain the thing and place new stuff in it. Its funny the look on people faces when i turn on the rear wipers, make people cross-eyes in Awww...
