Ready to tinker
Hello. Well after years of driving BMWs I purchased my first Mini three weeks ago. I still wanted a drivers car but the economy has taken its toll. However, after I test drove it, I was sold!!! I think it may be more fun to drive in the city. Actually, it came down to this or rebuilding a 1974 2002. Absolutely no regrets. However, I am a tinkerer. I bought the base model clubman due to financial constraints and wife's imposed budget. My question is what after market upgrades can or should I look into to enhance performance. I look forward to all suggestions.

To be honest there isn't a lot you can do to a base model Cooper. You could try a CAI, a new exhaust system, a performance tune up, suspension upgrade, new perfomance tires. At best you may gain 5-7 hp. Without spending some ridiculous sum of money you are better off just driving your MINI and enjoying it. I'm sure others may have some better ideas, but I have a base model and those are the only changes I've made.

There are several things you can do. Start with the DDM cold air intake. Also a rear swaybar is huge bang for the buck.
