R55 Clubman Rear Wiper Delete?
#77
this is fantastic!
I had an 06 r53 that i delited the wiper. at the time no one thought about doing it so i guess you could call me a pioneer? lol anyway now that i have an 11 and am doing the cosmetics before the engine this is one thing thats been on my mind from the day i first test drove the Clubman.
how to deal with the hideous back wipers integrated in the door/paint. I dont use rear wipers as i cant stand the scratches they place in the window when they go on.
I LOVE the idea of painting them to match. with my recent projects i have become quite proficient with the preval spray guns and painting the plugs is an awesome idea just until i can afford to have the doors shaved/repainted.
Rally, those plug faces look kind of thick; are they? or did they feather/blend in nicely with the paint? also, with the rubber gasket, when you screwed them on did they compress out and around the edges of the plug? one last question, where did you source them from?
i have a ton of clear/ reducer left. im going to go to my auto supply store and get a pint of my black paint

I forget where the actual source was. Sorry.
You can see how thin they are here:

Was afraid of that, but car's not here yet to have checked in person. Will have to keep my eyes peeled for a good deal on some rear trim. Was already wanting to see what I could do about extending the beltline molding across the rear trim anyway - with the black/silver trim that's coming on my car it looks a little "off" that there's that break in the beltline.

Rally,
im driving my self crazy trying to find the plugs you used....If and when i do find them which side did you place the rubber washer (i assume outside) inside couldn't work because it wouldn't seal the water out.....right?
on your pics it looks as if you the washer is on the inside? if so do you have problems with water coming in?

Has worked for me thus far.

I used it on the inside. Why wouldn't that work? It closes any gap that water would come in. It's a specialty washer specifically designed for this purpose. As the nut is tightened, the washer compresses and seals any of the gap keeping water out.
Has worked for me thus far.

Rally,
I've been wanting to do this to my Clubby for a while.
I've used the link that was given on the third page of this thread but the plugs look slightly different than the ones you are showing.
Would you happen to have the item number or exact link to the plugs you have used?
Thanks,
Your car looks awesome
