Side Scuttles Missing/stolen?
I know I have seen others complain that they were missing their side scuttles to either a car wash or a punk thief.
Occasionally I take my MINI to the touchless car wash and on several occasions one of my side scuttles comes off. Thank goodness I have not lost one, although twice I have left and didn't know it was missing until I got home. Again, thank goodness it was still there and no one had run over it, nor was it damaged.
I decided to take matters into my own hands. I came up with a very easy way to secure them without drilling and without making it permanent, just in case I may want to change out my scuttle to some new flavor.
The fix...HOT GLUE!
It only takes one pea sized bead and voilà it's secure.
All I wanted to do was keep it from sliding off, so one strategically placed pea sized bead and it doesn't slide out, NOR is it permanent.
If you want to remove the bead, simply get a pair of needle nose pliers and pinch the hardened bead and pull it out. Simple as that, no glue residue, no drills, screws and best of all it's on the back side where you can never see it.
