Boot always dirty
I have owned my clubman for about a month now and I love it, however, I find it impossible to keep the boot clean. I will wash the car, take it to the store and by the time I return home it is already dusty or dirty.
Does anyone use mudflaps? I am not sure how this would work or how it would look, but I am looking for a solution.

there are other threads about this. not a lot to do. mudflaps would make VERY little difference. with the clubman or hatch (and probably countryman too) its the "aero" of the mini brand. if it really bothers you look into a diffuser and a wing. you could probably fix the pressure lull back there but it'll cost you.

Actually this is a nice topic because I was wondering why my 2011 MCS has this problem and I thought of the aero dynamics as well. I wash my car so often its not funny. This car is also a dust magnet and I have waxed and done as much as I can and you guys will also notice that your wipers in the boot area collect dust and debris after a trip on the highway. You have to pull up the wiper and you'll see stuff falling from that little trap.
The only way to fix this is to add a spoiler that forces the air to go up and over so that the air pocket that is being created is diminished. Unfortunately the little spoiler the manufacturer makes will not do the job.

Take a look at any station wagon style car and they all have the same problem. Scion Toasters have this problem even worse form what I have seen around my area.
The only way to really eliminate it is to have a spoiler that forces air right down the back of the car.
I did put mud flaps on my Clubman more for cosmetic reasons than to keep it clean. For normal driving they have not helped keep the back clean.
Now the front mud flaps have helped keep the side cleaner of a little longer but not much.

Thanks for the ideas. I don't think I want to add anything to the body. I guess I will just have to keep it waxed and use some Rain Ex.
I have had hatchbacks before, but I probably didn't notice as much. I really like the way this car looks clean and I find myself washing it a lot. I also find myself kind of stepping back when I get to work and evaluating how it looks. Bacause of that I think I am noticing it more that if it were just a run of the mill vehicle.

those dusty bums are so annoying! In between my weekend bathtime, I will use some Meguiar's Quik Detail to remove the dust. But I only use it if there has been no rain during the week. I find that if it has rained, the dust sticks a bit more, and I don't want to risk abrading the paint.
