spare tire

We buoght an 08 clubman with 28000 miles on it. Runs great looks like new wife loves it, I barely get to drive it. Do they have spare tires or are they run flat tires it came with a jack but no spare. Also what is the death rattle that I have read about. Thanks Minigus

Cooper Clubman's (Non-S or JCW versions) came with a spare. It's under the floor (and under the other floor) in the boot.

The S and JCW have bigger front brakes and the standard spare won't fit, so they didn't include a spare. Some people buy a spare and just accept that they will have to swap a back tire for a flat front and put the spare on the back.

S and JCW come with runflats. You can tell by the sidewalls and tire codes.

Also, I'm pretty sure the death rattle is when you shut the car off, it doesn't just shut off right away. The engine keeps wanting to turn, but sounds like it's being choked to death.

I'm not sure why it happens.

This is totally wrong.

The death rattle is when the car first starts and the timing chain tensioner is not tensioning the chain properly

Go to the Stock Problems/Issues section and read about it.

As for the Spare tire issue again searching and reading here are your friend.

I will give you this thread to read as it is the most comprehensive of the more than 5 threads on this subject here.

Oops. Sorry about that. Death Rattle means different things to different cars, I guess.
