Head unit turning off by itself

My 2011 Clubman S has only 950 miles. the radio goes completely off out of the blue. it has happened twice in the last month but, twice more today. the dash board stays on without a hiccup, but, the radio screen goes blank and after about 5 seconds it comes back o to where it was before, radio, sat or cd.

has anyone experienced anything like that.

I would take it in. Mine did something weird when i first got it and they had to replace the head unit. I can't remember what it did though.......

pretty sure there is a software update for this, or they are working on one. Call the dealer, make an appointment. If they cant fix the software, then they will put in a new head unit.

2011 seem to have a head unit issue

My 2011 Clubman S: speaker makes a loud pop when I get into the car. Happened about 4 times in the six months that I have the car

My manager's 2011 hardtop S: head unit shut off while driving. Happened to her twice. She has had the car for eight months.

Fellow NAM member 2011 Clubman S: speaker makes a loud pop like my car. He has had his car for 10 months.

Commonality: all three cars have the Harmon Kardon stereo.

None of us have taken our cars in for servicing yet. It is not annoying enough to take it in for an immediate fix. We plan to have it looked at during the yearly servicing.

i took the car in this morning. of course they called me at 10:00 am saying that they could not duplicate the issue. i told them that it would be almost impossible to duplicate unless they kept the car for a few days and someone drove it all the time. in other words, i am SOL. this is frustrating. they will not even try to upgrade the software or anything else.

i love the car, but, i always heard that Mini's customer support really sucked. i am starting to believe it. my car only has 2500 miles and the clutch is making some noises. they want me to pay for it and then reimburse me if they agree it was not my fault. i have driven stick shift all my life and never had any issues with a brand new clutch.

i am hoping that i am just having a bad day and this is not a prelude of things to come with my mini.

I took my 2011 Clubman to the dealer because of a check engine light. They found a defective coolant temperature sensor and replaced it. By the way, the car only had 2,500 miles. While I was at the dealer, I had them find out why the speaker on my HK system made a loud pop sound once in a long while. They told me they could not duplicate it. I guess not enough 2011 owners with HK have complained about the issue yet.

We're having the exact same issue with our 2011 Cooper S with HK stereo. The stereo will make a VERY loud pop and then cut out completely. After 5 to 10 seconds, it comes back on again. Asked the MINI dealer about it and they said there's nothing they can do if they can't replicate the issue... Very frustrating.
