Good to know. Thanks. Was that a special price from the dealer and what dealer in DFW? Considering the broken fitting issues, I would be inclined to pay more for the dealer.

Had mine replaced in May. Local dealer wanted $1000.

Dealer I bought it from (an hour away) wanted @ $650.

Safelite was $389.

Probably could have gotten a roaming gypsy to do it for me, but Safelite had a guarantee and warranty, and my insurance agent at Allstate suggested I use them since I wasn't covered for windshield damage.

The glass is good - I've had worse glass on brand new cars, and the workmanship was fine.

Good point on being careful about the installer. The one I replaced was not OE, and it had more than one crack. It also allowed for a lot of wind noise at highway speeds. I bought my 06 used and it is my first Cooper so I didn't have anything to compare it with. The new windshield is much better. If you don't go with a dealer (and their prices can be ridiculous) make sure to do your homework.

The lower trim and A pillar can get damaged on the install. And the cowl. PPG or OEM glass if you can get it.

Here info on the rain sensor version:

Couple things to look out for. When you have it done make sure they know how to do it on a MINI.
