New to me '08 Clubman
I recently bought a 2008 Clubman S. Everything was great until the check engine light came on when I got home. I took it to a mechanic and he said the codes were for some kind of throttle problem?? He also said the car seem way under powered, something wrong with the turbo. Now my wife just called me and said the moonroof wasn't opening. The car only has 31000 miles. Is this common for the MINI? Did I just get a headache, should I try and sell this car and start over? I thought MINI's were well built cars not ones that fall apart at 31000 miles. Whats your all's opinion?

You should take it to the BMW MINI dealer nearest to you and have it checked. Most times the "under power" is the fuel pump issue - should be covered under warranty. Matter of fact most of your issues should be covered under warranty - TAKE it to the MINI dealer!
The sun roof is a common issue that I have learned to live with. When the sun beats on the sunroof directly - something expands (not sure what) and the roof will not open. I typically plan my day in advance and will open the roof in the morning - if no rain is forecasted I will leave opened (vented) all day...viola I have sun roof opening!
The Clubman as well as all MINI's are well made, the owner should take care of the KNOWN issues and get them corrected - (Timing chain - covered by warranty, High Pressure Fuel Pump - covered by warranty). BTW with 31,000 miles you should check the brakes - they are covered prior to 36,000 miles!
Final word - TAKE IT TO THE BMW MINI dealer straight away!

This is good info to know! My '08 (with 26k miles) should arrive tomorrow or Friday. Luckily the previous owner bought the 72mo/100k maintenance and bumper to bumper MINI factory warranty. It's still good until Aug. 2014 (I called MINI and double checked).
My local MINI dealer already ran the VIN and told me to come in for the free scheduled maintenance oil change and also for a secondary water pump recall??? I know the bonnet scoop is warped and I'll see if I can get that swapped as well as the heat shield installed to prevent it again.
At least the sunroof issue won't take me by surprise if it happens!
