Brembos? Tell me more about this Clubman - Potential buyer?

We just picked up a 10' cooper S for my better half. I love it... Yet, I love the longer look of the clubmans..

I found this one online from a dealer... 09 Clubman S..21.5k miles, auto with paddle shifters/etc

$21,500

The first things I spot are:

Its lowered
Brembos
Carbon hood scoop (factory option?)
Carbon e brake handles (Factory option?)

Now my real question is.. are the brembos the real deal? or are they caliper clip on covers? I have googled images and am having a hard time distinguishing?

Any help is appreciated.

Stock JCW calipers, powdercoated or painted silver with Brembo logos.

Brembo does manufacture the stock JCW 4 piston calipers.

awesome thank you.

Is this a JCW? I noticed a few things different from the other clubmans and our cooper S. It's just not listed as one from the dealer, usually they're quick to try and squeeze every option/penny out of each car.

also, is this a good deal for the price?

It's not a factory JCW but it might have the tuning kit (but I doubt it). The brakes can be bought after-the-fact and that looks like what they did. The tires are decent for the price, Hancook Ventus V12 is not bad and likely an enthusiast owned this car to do these modifications. Factory aero kit, factory CF parts form dealer. Any clue how it was lowered, take a look at the parts and put a pic up here for us. What other options does it have?

As far as deals, I bought my CPO (6yr 100k warranty from dealer) 2010 R55 S with a few options, HK, Auto Air, & sunroof with 9,600 miles on it in August for around $20-21k IIRC.

I bet the service is up on it but it should still be in warranty. Has it had the timing chain done yet?

I have no idea, these are pics supplied by the dealer.

My first thought on those brakes are caliper covers with a brembo logo. Does not look like any 4-pot caliper I know.

Then you're not familiar enough with the JCW calipers...

Even if that were the case, rotor size is a dead give-away.

You actually think those are JCW calipers? Hummmmm.

Lets also take a look at those r110 pace spokes. Those do not fit a factory JCW caliper even with spacers.

Dark, please take at look at these brembo GT for sale on NAM.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post3631724

BBKs always have bolts/ties on the front for easy removal of the pads and you will always be able to spot the brake fluid bleed nipples on the side for easy brake fluid bleed. I have run racing BBKs for many years on many different cars such as lotus, Porsche and now my track Mini. I stared at them long enough doing more than 50 pad changes a year and more than 6 brake fluid changes a year on my cars.

On one hand they do look just the same, just in silver.

But on the other, that is correct. The R110's don't fit.

So, these "silver Brembos" or either a different set, or fake covers.

I think the op can ask the dealer if he is still interested in the car.

Dealers are morons. 99% of them at least. They'll tell you straight up that they are legit, without ever taking a look at them.

**edit** I sent them an email asking them to check them out and get back to me... the car is in Florida, and I am in Missouri. I really like the "oem+" look of this one though. Subtle changes go a long way with me.

You're comparing OEM parts manufactured by Brembo specifically for MINI to Brembo parts sold as an aftermarket upgrade(or for other cars). Perhaps you failed to read my initial post about how they are factory JCW (Brembo) calipers that have been either powdercoated or painted with a vinyl Brembo logo attached.

The only difference between these calipers and the ones you'd find on a showroom JCW is that they're not red and don't have the JCW logo.

It's clearer than day. I've seen HUNDREDS of Brembo calipers in my day and not one resembles that of the JCW caliper so there's no need to compare them to the GT.

Hmmmm, I don't have any answers, but I do have two questions:

1) Aren't all 316mm JCW front discs drilled and slotted like the photo above and the diagram below?

2) The wheel FAQ at Mini2 says that R110 Pace Spoke wheels don't fit over JCW brakes.

Those do look more like 294mm Cooper S discs to me.

No. Not all JCW rotors are slotted.

The fronts calipers appear to be factory OEM jcw optioned brembo only repainted! I just bought a used set after some careful research and like others have already said. JCW calipers look like no other aftermarket brembo.

Looks like a well kept clubby too!

Where in FL is the car? One of us in the Sunshine Mini group could take a look at it for you.

Nope, they are horizontal; you're seeing it right.
The grill (along with the different front fascia and color-match wheel arches) is apart of the non-JCW Aero Kit that was available from the factory.

Braking

I had Brembos on my Lancer Evo IX.
Not impressed.
Nicknamed "Brownbos" after track day because they heated up, and turned brown. For good. No more red. I was sick for days.
I want these:
http://www.wilwood.com/Images/BrakeK...528-DR-med.jpg
They are made in black or red, for 15 or 17 inch wheels and larger, SUPER easy pad/bleed, forged aluminum.

Oh yes, and they are made in Camarillo California.

'Factory' Brembos are notorious for not being as good as most aftermarket Brembo kits. IIRC, the Evo calipers also had ceramic tops on the pistons that broke down/crumbled after a single track day (along with the dust boots). *edit* nope, the ceramic caps are bmw 1 series 6 piston calipers.

Most Wilwood kits are mediocre at best, there's a good amount of posts on NAM about Wilwoods fading, chewing up pads, and the rotors cracking all after a single track day.

For the mini, the best kit I've read about seems to the Detroit tuned.
