Will it leave a residue?

I have the factory JCW spoiler on my Clubman:

I'm getting a replacement spoiler and was wondering, since the spoiler is technically glued on, will removing it leave a residue that you then need a body shop to buff/work on? Or is it a clean removal with maybe goo-be-gone? And how difficult is it to break the bond? Will 2 guys on each side pull up work? Or is there a trick to this? Thanks.

I not sure you can just pull it off with just brute strength. It is glued on with a 2 component adhesive which is very strong. I know i read on here that someone had removed the spoiler.

I would recommend using a heat gun and some fishing line. you should be able to get it off and be able to clean off the residue by hand.

one last thing that came into my mind was, i thought i read that if installed at the factory it was also bolted on. (but i might be wrong) I did a bunch of research, because i have a JCW spoiler and need to install it on my wife's.

hope this helps.

I highly doubt its just glued on with double side tape. Im sure its bolted as well as taped from the inside of the roof up. I would make very sure before you pull on it or you can dent the roof. I have read from the factory there bolted and glued and if the dealer installed it on delivery its just glued.

Only one bolted on is the other type of spoiler. All JCW spoilers are just glued on. This was confirmed by 2 dealers and a bunch of posts online. And I found out they use Betalink glue/epoxy. Some success stories out there but I'm just gonna get a body shop to remove it. They'll be liable for damage at least(spoke to owner of the place and they're willing to take the risk)

Someone has dibs on it but hey it also depends on offered price I'm not putting it officially for sale until I'm sure I can remove it without damage though.

I'm replacing it with a special fabbed challenge wing :X
