How rare are factory JCW Clubman?
or is that Clubmen. There's a factory 2011 JCW Clubman thats for sale at a Carmax that I could have brought in to the one near us. I really would be better off to wait a couple of months to buy the Clubman but I really like that Clubman. How rare are they on the ground? More to the point, if I didn't get this one, how likely would I be to find another one for sale in the fall?
Bonus question: is there any reason not to get a JCW?
TIA,
Tony

Somewhere in the JCW sub-forum is a thread discussing production numbers on the factory JCW vehicles, but I think that discussion was confined to the 2009 model year... And as I recall, it was estimated that there were only somewhere in the vicinity of 100 or so JCW Clubmans imported into the U.S. during the 2009 model year...
That being said, the factory JCW vehicles are, on the whole, a limited production animal; and I get the impression that relatively few R55 JCW vehicles are made (compared to the R56 JCW vehicles). But the JCW Clubmans aren't so rare as to be difficult to find on the used car market. Perhaps the real question you should be asking yourself is: "If the JCW Clubman in front of me right now is exactly what I want, will I find another exactly like I want in the fall...?"
Aside from a potentially large price difference, I personally can't think of a reason not to get a factory JCW Clubman over a Clubman S. But I am biased as well...

JCW anything is rare (to me in my area). I have never seen a JCW R55 in real life....anyhow, TimFitz63 is right on the nose with his question, "If the JCW Clubman in front of me right now is exactly what I want, will I find another exactly like I want in the fall...?"
I think the only reason NOT to get a JCW would be the out of warranty maintenance/repairs.

I have one - an 09 - and love it. We also have an 09 S and the two are very different. The JWC is more raw to drive. The power difference is noticeable and the exhaust note is much more aggressive. When I was looking they were not common and I wanted one with NAV which further narrowed my options. Bottom-line, if you see one you like grab it as its a very hit or miss thing. BTW, the premium on the JWC as a used car is minimal versus an S at least it was a year ago.
