Iphone 4s snap in arm rest adapter

I have a 12 JCW R55, I'm looking for the iPhone snap-in adapter. Is the BMW one the same? If anyone can give me feed back on the part too that would be great. 250.00 dollars is a lot of money for a phone charger. So if its not worth the time or money let me know.

What benefit is it. Will it do everything the y cable does. Are the mini and BMW ones interchangeable?

The biggest benefit is that it conceals your phone, and it not just laying in your console with a cable sticking out of it. Yes it does everything the y cable does. Not sure if same as BMW, but I doubt it.

Just remembered one more biggie. When you use the snap in, your phone will use the cars antenna for better reception!!

Any issues with the phone getting physically hot? I've been leaving it open because it's almost too hot to touch with the console arm lid closed.

From what I am told from the dealer the adapter has a fan built in to keep it from over heating, but I haven't got one yet.

No it doesn't. Wow, that's a pretty big white lie from your dealer.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm wrong. I just looked at mine with a flashlight, and it looks like a vent to me. I don't see any fan blades. If it is a fan, it doesn't help as the phone gets pretty hot in there.

i phone fan

I looked at mine, it looks like a fan, but doesn't rotate. If it worked, my phone wouldn't get hot. I just bought the part brand new. If anyone else checks and the fan actually works (you can hear or feel the vibration, let me know & I'll replace mine.

What do these things run for? I find it odd that you get the armrest with the mini connected with Nav and iPhone integration but it doesn't include the snap in.

They are about 225.00 for the media one. There are cheaper ones, but they don't give you all the media control. They charge the phone and you still connect Bluetooth.

I think there are different versions for different Iphones; my 4s charger won't work with hubby's 5s, and not sure if there's a difference in electronics between 3, 3s, 4 and 4s. So that's probably the idea. Still, you would think that they would ask you which one you want and include it in the total package...
