Getting a 2010 S, what about extended warranty?
I am about to close a deal on a 2010 Clubman S with 23580 miles on it. The car is a hot chocolate with a premium package. The actual owner took me to the Mini Dealer and the service manager pulled the service record on the car for me using the car key. I will be taking over his loan (18.4k), MSRP was 31.1K.
Below is what has been taking care according with the service record.
@6,419 miles inlet valve dirty/blocked, Air inlet (including grill) on bonnet poor surface finish
@6,822 miles O-ring for injector leaking
@11,291 Air inlet (including grill) on bonnet poor surface loose
@11,586 brake fluid change (full maint program)
Micro filter replacement
1st oil service- full maintenance
Standard operation MP
@14,183 Full-flow filter body leaking
coolant pump leaking
FT brake pads -maintenance plan
Air inlet (including grill) on bonnet poor surface finish
Standard operation MP
Aux water pump, M17 02 12
@19,297 Thermostat permanent malfunction
brake fluid change (full maint program)
RR brake pads -maintenance plan
Air inlet (including grill) on bonnet poor surface finish (3 times?)
Micro filter replacement
MP-low mileage annual oil service
Warranty is until 6/2014.Do I need to worry about something else? Base on this, do I need to buy the extended warranty?
Thanks for your feedback

Have them clarify 'extended warranty'. I believe they are actually talking about selling you a vehicle service contract that (depending on how its set up) could cost you money at the point of breakage via paying a deductible, and would likely only cover certain covered repairs mentioned within.
There are technically three different mechanisms that can cover failures. Factory warranty (that comes with the vehicle at no cost to cover workmanship issues), mechanical breakdown insurance (sold by insurance companies/certified individuals), and vehicle service contracts, which are initially sold by dealers then the dealers sell them to insurance company's because dealers don't have the loot to cover every repair themselves.
Weigh the coverage option against what you're going to do to the car. Sometimes it makes sense if a person isn't mechanically inclined or doesn't have the time to work on it themselves. If you do your own work and are ASE certified, chances are you wrench on your own cars and don't need the coverage.
Also, if you're going to mod it in any way, then getting the coverage is almost worthless.
Other than that, sounds like a solid buy.

According with the service papers that the dealer provide it, he took the Mini tire & wheel plan good until 06/15 9 (with Safe Guard) and rejected the 72M/100K ext for $1995.
I am mechanically inclined and I do my own work . Thanks for your feedback it is just that the stories here about the mini make me a little bit worry about this car.
