R55 Barn door defroster

Barn door defroster
The bottom half of my right barn door defroster does not heat up. The top half is fine. Being still under warranty, I took it to the dealer but they would not do anything with it unless the tinting was removed. They said there is a possibility that the tinting was causing the issue.
I told them not to do anything and I would give it some thought. I am not wild about the idea of having to replace the tinting, but I guess if the coils or the glass needs to be replaced, I would have to do that anyway.
I've tried to figure out the circuitry and see if there is something not covered by the tinting that might be causing this, but it is difficult to see around the edges of the glass.
Is there any possibility the tinting could be causing this? Any further insight into how I might be able to fix this?
Thanks.

Was it always like this after the tint job was done ?
Not sure if removing it is a good idea. Depending on how long ago it was installed and the climate where you live, I have seen cases where removal actually lifted enough of a grid line to cause this.
Additionally most tint film manufacturers use metallic properties within the film to deflect sunlight. But I have not seen any cases where this was an issue.
