Extend Warranty???

Can I buy one from Mini on my 09 CLUB S with 71k and known history of repairs to car as it has always been serviced by Mini?

I was told by MINI that if I didn't extend my warranty before it expired and I wanted to add it later I would have to pay a $200 or so fee for MINI to go over the car to check for problems before they would offer me an extended warranty.

Is this warranty extension only for original owners? Any link for info?

I just picked up a 2010 that's still under factory warranty until July and I'd like to extend it if possible.

You can buy an extended warranty if you are not the original owner. When I bought my pre-owned MINI that was still under the original warranty, I was offered the option of buying an extended warranty - I declined and in the two years the extended warranty would of covered I had one $700 repaire compared to the $2,400 the extended warranty would of cost.

I think you would be better off self insuring. The car is 3 years old. If you put $100 away each month and just use that as a car emergency fund. Or better yet take 50% of what you would of paid on the warranty (say $1200) and use that as your seed money. You would quickly have a nice little car fund for repairs if required.
