2008 clubman s clutch
Just bought an 08 Clubman S 9 days ago from Autonation in Las Vegas. Well the clutch is already fried! It only has 60000 on it. Is the clutch on these junk or did someone just beat on this beforehand. No warranty either so I hope they can help me out without me paying a fortune.

Over 20 years experience. I went through the gears pretty good on test drive and it was fine. Day 7 going into 2nd I notice an unusually high rev but not again until last night or in any other gear until this past Saturday. Pulled out of my street and it did it in 2nd, 3rd. I quickly did a u turn and parked it in the garage. Must have been on the verge of going out because I haven't been driving unusually hard. Hopefully this wasn't beat on bad by prior owner.

At $1000, you are paying for the parts. Labor on this is huge. Go on youtube and search for MINI clutch and you will see how big a job this is . . . . . about 10 hours labor, easy. Sorry to hear you got stuck.
I have a 2009 Clubman S with 58K miles and our clutch is still hanging in there. Keeping fingers crossed. Good luck with yours.
Just curious, what did you have to give for the car and what were the options?

Considering the flywheel alone is $1100, you got quite a deal. I just went through this. Dealership wanted ~$3400 for clutch, flywheel and labor. I ended up going aftermarket and got it for $2500 for clutch masters fx100, lightweight steel flywheel and labor. The dual mass flywheel is a spendy part.

dcat, if you bought the car from a dealer with a bona fide warranty in hand, they should be doing the work under the warranty. Congratulations!
While they have the whole car apart . . . and the engine will be nearly out of the car, have them check/replace the obvious parts that may be ready to go . . . . thermostat housing is one that immediately comes to mind. Also, check for recalls while it's there and see if the timing chain has been done . . . . that may be part of a recall. Good luck.
Quick story, my brother recently bought a 2007 BMW from a dealer in SoCal and the twin turbos on the car failed during the 90 day warranty . . . . . all replaced for free . . . would have been at least $5-6K w/o the warranty.

My 2008 Clubman S has 118,300 and the clutch finally died. Quoted $2550 to replace clutch & flywheel, but that's not happening. I've got tools, some experience, and a hotline to a seasoned coworker who has done these jobs a lot. I was told by another indie shop (the one I trust) that 118,000 is pretty much par for the course as far as longevity.
