R55 Sport Mode?

Sport Mode?
I have a '14 Clubman, automatic.
What I expected when I put it in Sport mode was for the shift points to change. But it feels like more than that—it feels like throttle response is remapped to be quicker, shift points have been raised, and maybe something else.
Anyone know exactly what Sport mode does? (And, ps, the salesman told me he always drives his in Sport mode, and the fuel economy is unaffected, which I really doubt.)
Thanks . . . Stu

the sport button does
1) makes the steering harder by reducing the amount of assist, no change to ratio
2) enables the "pop and burrble"
3) changes the relationship between the gas pedal and throttle plate so just a small movement of the gas pedal results in large throttle plate movement
4)on auto trannies, raises the shift points, both up and down and will hold a gear when you lift throttle instead of immediately upshifting
it does not make more hp or torque and therefor does not increase fuel consumption nor does it change any suspension settings

you folks are trying to tell me driving in sport mode at say 35mph @3K is gonna be the same mpg at 35mph @1800 ? I don't think so on the autos.
In sport mode it stays at higher rpm till 38/39 mph and it can't be the same mpg
Once you get to about 70 and it's in top gear then I buy it.

It gives u more torque when WOT, coz overboost function is on. If you drive with sport mode D, it seems to shift like a dream (quick and crisp), and if you are light foot enough, it will shift at ~2.5k rpm and less likely to seek highest gear (in normal mode, it will shift to 6th at 40ish @1.5k rpm, waste of the potential of the N18 :( )

You can watch real time mpg drop when switching to sport mode while cruising at a constant speed when the tranny downshifts. Kind of buzzy on the freeway but a blast to drive in the city.

I run sport mode ALL THE TIME and often run in 4th gear at 75 mph+ ... no overheating
look for another issue causing the overheating ... it is NOT being in sport mode

scan gauge 2 ... oil temp, coolant temp, engine temp (not sure exactly what this is but it is different than the oil and coolant temps), intake air temp (after intercooler), if you have an automatic transmission it will display it's temp too

If he was cruising leisurely enough that the engine was running in "boiling hot 105+ C mode" that would add heat to the tranny indeed.
