I have a clubman with the sunroof and it really is hard to cool. What I did was buy one of the silver reflective windshield covers and cut it to fits between the sunroof glass and the sliding shade. I also had the sunroof tinted with the ceramic tint that supposedly reduces heat. With the reflective shade in, you cannot see it from the outside top or from the inside since the sliding shade covers it. It really makes a big difference.

If you cut it right you can still use the tilt function and leave it in place and only have to remove it when you open the sun roof. I only have it on front half of the sunroof not the rear but this would also work.

Also, with the reflector shade in front, you can feel the difference in the heat from it and the rear sunroof with no reflector.
