I put this in another place on the internet but no one has chimed in. Perhaps someone here will.

I had a '11 R55 and traded it for a '14 R55. I have noticed a couple differences that are annoying me about the '14 and wonder if they can be coded/fixed to be like what I was used to.

First: Auto A/C. It's hot outside (90+) and I get in the car. A/C set on 60. Fan speed is 2 bars from high. Set A/C on LO, and it is 1 bar from high. Hit Max, and it is 1 bar from high. On the '11, it was on full high in all those examples. What is the difference? How can I get the '14 to act like the '11?

Second: The '11 when iPod was set to random, it would stay on random after start/stop. In the '14, I have to set random every time I get in the car. Any way to make the '14 act like the '11?

Third: In the '11 the trip odometer was next to the odometer. In the '14, it is buried in the stalk menu. I liked being able to see range and miles driven on that tank on the same screen. Any way to get the '14 to be like the '11?

Aside from those little things, I am loving the '14. The only thing it does not have that the '11 did is HK audio. I do miss that some. It does have more toys though and it sticks to the twisties like glue. It also has nearly 70k fewer miles which makes a huge difference in ride feel.

 

I've got a '06 R52. My co-pilot has a '15 R60. Believe it or not, they're different. Your '11 model is out of the 2nd gen stable and the '14 is from the 3rd. You're comparing apples to oranges. BMW shelved one concept and opened a new one. Companies do that.

 

Oh, I would have thought the '14 was still 2nd gen for the Clubman since '16 is the 3rd gen.

I experienced the same annoyance going from an '11 R56 to a '13 R56.

 

The thing on my '11 is when I turn off max, it defaults to 72 degrees and turns off the ac. It's going to get me in a wreck some day.
