Oem stereo question

Hello, I just purchased a used 08 clubman s, and the stereo has aux option only, is there a way to get Bluetooth on the norm stereo? I noticed there is a phone Button on the stereo but it seems as. It's not either working or not available for. My year, please. Let me know. Any suggestions, thanks.

You need to see if the Bluetooth/USB control board has been installed. Is there a USB socket behind the cup-holders? Or only a mini headphone socket marked AUX? You can buy a bluetooth unit from BMW, about $1000 from memory and a bugger to install, after which you have yo get it coded at a dealer (unless a non-dealer has the hardware and software) so that the existing unit recognises the unit you've added

The 07-10 coopers including clubman did not have bluetooth audio streaming available but did have bluetooth phone audio.

- Go to bmwvin.com, plug in your VIN and see if you have the bluetooth option

- If you want bluetooth music streaming you can't get it even with the bluetooth factory option. I had the same problem and so I bought one of these: https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Streambo...tooth+aux+mpow which connects to your phone via bluetooth and plugs into the aux jack to get audio through your stereo. Phone mic quality was pretty good even when the mic was placed next to the shifter. You'll probably need to get a ground loop isolator too, to get rid of an annoying high pitched whine that seems to happen with these things.

I didn't order the Bluetooth package on my 08, didn't think I would need it. I also have the buttons on the steering wheel, but they don't do anything. I use my aux input almost always on the stereo, just plug in my Sansa and use that for my music. In 08 you could also get a lifetime Sirius subscription, but I opted not to get that also. I think it was an additional $500 for the Satellite radio plus another $500 for the lifetime subscription. (It was the lifetime of the radio, not the owner).
