CEL/10 second engine power loss/1 Rough Idle

I posted a few another threads but figured ide start a new one.

Bought a 2008 Mini cooper S clubman last week.

Driving down the hwy about 60mph and all the sudden i loose power in the engine.

I had to put the peddle to the floor to keep it going.

This lasted for about 10 seconds and the CEL came on when it was bogging down then turned off when the power was restored.

Another few seconds went by and it happened again for about 10 seconds.

When power was restored the CEL turned back off.

Drove it about 5 miles to the store and as i was leaving the CEL came back on but the car seemed to be running fine.

The next day i drove it to 2 auto part stores to check for codes. Both places didn't read any codes.

I had 1 rough idle at a stop light and had to give it some gas to keep it running then it was fine.

I later found that the Intake hose in the above photo was dry rotted off completely where it meets what i think is the turbo on the bottom side of the pic.

i temporarily fixed it with some self adhesive tape.

The car seems to be running fine but the CEL is still on.

My question is:

If the intake line was completely off would it cause problems intermeditly like i described or would it be running bad 100% of the time?

Just wondering if i have 2 separate situations here.

If you have cracks in that intake hose you are getting unmetered (and unfiltered) air introduced to the engine. Cracks or breaks in that hose will cause rough running/idling. Definitely replace that and get the codes cleared to see if they come back.
