Supposedly it's a one owner car, it's very clean except for tiny scratches middle of drivers door, you can see where it was touched up by a non-pro

It's $12,500

Seems perfect, question is, would you trust this car on a 1,200 mile road trip?

Getting really close to pulling the trigger on picking up a used Clubman S and starting to think about reliability in general day to day and the occasional road trip

N18 engine should be pretty reliable. Find out if the high pressure fuel pump and water pump have been replaced. You can also ask the seller for a carfax for history.

Doesn't sound bad, but I'd still have it inspected prior to purchase to make sure there is no surprises.

It's at a Mini dealer and they said they ran a level 3 diagnostic and that's the same thing I'd have it done

It also has a 60 day warranty

CarFax shows two owners, and not much else. If it drives nice, and looks decent underneath, then I would have no issue taking it on a long road trip.

 

I bought mine (2009 Clubby JCW) in Austin, TX. Drove it back to NY, no problem other than cooking a fairly worn rear tire at the tail of the dragon. Very comfortable on the trip though.

I second this, that's what I've replaced on my 2012 S with 41k miles along with thermostat.

 

This would not factor into my buying decision. If your date of manufacture (from driver door jam) is 4/2012 and later you get the Bosch fuels pump instead of the older Continental.

At some point mid 2012 the metal water pump came in, but I don't know the date. You can see water pump on lower passenger (USA passenger) side from underneath.

Great info. Op, the reason this is being brought up is because the continental fuel pump only lasts about 35k miles and costs 1,000 dollars parts only. The bosch seems to last longer so far. Both cannot be retrofitted to the other.
