Help! Misfire mystery

So on my way to visit my parents, normal driving conditions the car suddenly went into limp mode and started misfiring bad. My reader shows cyl 3 misfiring. Put new plugs in and tried swapping the coil packs around but its still on cyl 3.

Anyone have any idea what it could be? Please help!

I had a similar problem on my 2013 Clubman S, it has 74k on it codes read misfire on 3 different cylinders so I decided to replace all coils and plugs and it works like a charm. Easiest spark plug change I’ve ever done on a vehicle, went with Bosch coils from Napa and NGK plugs. Now I just have to clear the check engine code.

That was the first things that I checked and tested. All new plugs were installed and the coils were switched around, but still fired on cylinder 3 alone. Turned out the exhaust valve decided it was done and scorched a hole in itself. Spoke with a guy who has been working on Mini for 15 years and has never once seen this before. More than likely a latent defect in the component that just happened to show it's ugly face shortly after I got the car.

Fortunately, it didn't do any damage to the cylinder head. So, disassembly, several hundred dollars, and a couple long weekends.

Here's the "fun" part. I live in an apartment so, it's at my parents' place and my dad's been helping with it. Finally got it done and put back together. Started it up, let it run for a bit, and the friction coating on the water pump pulley decided to just..well..explode.

So now I'm waiting for that to come in the mail because gods forbid any local shops carry that part...
