R55 Clubman S (Non JCW) Catless Downpipe

Im going to go catless downpipe soon, I have a 200 cell high flow dp at the moment. I also have stock catback, anyone with a r55 non JCW Clubman S have a catless downpipe with stock catback that would like to share some sound clips just anxious to hear how it would sound with my setup.

I have a 2012 S with OEM cat back and catless downpipe. It’s been a while since I installed it, but I remember thinking “sounds like stock...” after I put the downpipe in.

If you already have a 200cel going to a catless will make it a little louder. I don't think it's too loud as I've run a catless with a milltek catback non resonated and it was still good for daily use.

Yeah thats what im looking for not too loud but still hear the turbo whistle more at idle and low rpm then waking up the more rpm you give it but not in an annoying way, I have a bigger intercooler, solid aluminum piping all around the intake system, m7 open filter setup, so I know its gunna sound perfect once I go catless cause Im already happy with how it is

I have a JCW with full factory exhaust and love the OEM sound.
I've changed exhaust on other vehicles and it almost always leads to some issue. Too loud, highway drone, interior resonance, gas smell etc. I'm not messing with the MINI! :-)

yeah the jcw exhaust only has one cat and its the downpipe so having one cat deleted by factory will already give it some burble/pop effect too cause mini cooper s clubman r55 (non jcw) come with 2 cats, like they say if it sounds good already dont mess with it

Yes, even with aftermarket tuning with the AccessPort, still lots of burble and popping!
This car reminds a lot of my old 1990 Beretta GT, a ton of fun to drive but lots of upkeep to keep it running and in good condition!

If you go catless and for some "high flow" "sport cats" you will most likely get a CEL (check engine light). Most tunes by professionals will get rid of this. Also keep in mind the possibility of increased emission smell when going catless. It is a valid small detail that is offputting for some. Lastly depending on the rest of your exhaust setup you might get alot of pops and bangs (not bad just a built in function) when in Sport Mode, again for Catless.

If you go the route of catless and some kind of solution to get rid of the CEL, go the route of Mariokart's Catless Downpipe or Waymotorworks Catless Downpipe. Machined fit is a nice luxury in this weird niche MINI market. If going a more cheap route pay attention to the welds and thickness of the flange plate that attaches to the turbo for any cheap catless downpipes.

If you go the route of "sports cat" like the Milltek catted downpipe and such then yes you may have slightly less exhaust smell but you may still trigger the CEL thus requiring a solution.

My personal setup is a Clubman S with Waymotorworks catless downpipe mated with a non resonated Milltek exhaust. Sounds much deeper in the back and while driving till 3k rpm it sounds pretty deep and growly then gets scary loud above that in boost. Sometimes the in cabin noise scares me when i go full boost.
