Warning light gremlins - ABS etc, fuel gauge & air bag
Hi
We have a 2008 R55 (Europe spec) that has been throwing the ABS 'trifecta' for a few months but always self clearing.
Most recently this has become permanent initially with fron left codes only. Clear those down and they'd come back after a few miles. Yesterday it started throwing front left and front right codes 5E10, 5E01, 5E00 & 5D90. Clearing them down would result in one always being permanent. At this point (and with engine held running on the throttle at about 1,000 rpm) waiting for a few minutes would produce 'chimes' as each of the fault codes comes back. After four are logged then the airbag warning light comes on (but no error codes).
Now if you clear down the codes still with 1,000 rpm the revs will jump up to 1750 or so.
If you then go for a drive the 'petals' on the fuel gauge will go on and off from abot 3/4 down to 1/4 and then back up.
I'm wondering about a bad earth/ground - any suggestions?
[edit] - cleaned up a few earths and reseated the battery terminals - same problems. INPA found a couple of stored codes 94FB and A0B5 not seen in the generic scantool
Thanks
Graeme
p.s. new OEM battery was fitted yesterday and coded in - looks good and is charging.

Internal fuses all look good, no damp etc etc
Road speed - if I clear down the errors then we start with a permanent 5E01 (front right speed sensor??). That wheel shows 255 km/h everybody else 0 km/h. Go for a drive the working three sensor give a km/h reading that tallies with each other and the speedo.
Then we get a warning chime and the front left speed sensor throws an error code or two - that sensor now reports 255 km/h for the rest of the drive.
Rear two sensors remain fine with various km/h readings.
When the left front sensor throws the errors we also get the airbag warning light - no codes stored anywhere for that.
Seatbelt warning light (12 o'clock on the centre dash) is permanently lit clearing errors makes no difference. Delphi software working through the 'restraint' sensors shows all are reporting correctly (e.g. passenger seat empty).
p.s. question on the now permanent 5E01 error - the generic scanner reports that as power supply to front right sensor but Googling suggests that it may be DSC/ABS module - has anybody got a definitive on that?

That's a good progress. Can you swap front right with front left abs sensor to see if it moves with it? If so, just replace it and that will take of the DSC/ABS system.
For the airbag sensor, there is a recall or a bulletin regarding the passenger occupancy sensor. Reprogramming the module might resolve the issue.

[Solved]
Hi - some feedback on this.
Decided to burrow down to the ABS/DSC module hidden under the ECU (you guys may call that ECM?) whilst awaiting delivery of the new speed sensor. Pulled the multi plug from the ABS/DSC and found it quite damp inside with a lot of crud at the bottom + corrosion on the bottom four or five pins.
Cleaned that all out/dried it. Cleaned plug. Reassembled everything reconnected battery, clear down the codes and now we have no errors - took it for an Italian tune up and all seems good.
To my mind the ABS unit on the bulkhead/firewall is going to get wet if you hit serious water/puddles - the multi plug on this one has no rubber 'concertina' seals as found on the ECU plugs - is that as it should be or am I missing some seals?
