Turbo overheating?

Hey Team. The turbo on my 2010 clubman seems to be ridiculously hot after normal driving. So hot I can’t hold my hand within a couple inches for very long.
I just spent 5 hours replacing the oil supply line thinking maybe it was starved for oil. Didn’t make a difference. Is there another component i should be looking at? Is it cooled? Is there a separate water pump that might be malfunctioning? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You know it has ~1500F temp exhaust flowing through, right?

I do. I should mention that I feel as though this is a recent change. Perhaps its not, but it seems like its running hotter. I don't remember the heat radiating off it like I experience now.

There is an oil pump that runs for a little while after the engine is shut off. You should be able to hear it running.

Does the turbo have the OEM turbo heat shield on it?

It does. I was thinking about taking it off to allow more air flow.
